Finding Your Perfect Fit: A Guide to the New Bear & Roo Size Guide
If you’ve ever stared at a size chart wondering “but what does that actually mean for MY body,” this one’s for you. I just updated my size guide, and I wanted to walk you through everything that’s there — plus answer the questions I hear most often from new (and returning!) customers.
Why Sizing Matters So Much Here
Every single piece at Bear & Roo is cut and sewn after you order it. That’s the whole point of made-to-order — I’m not pulling your size off a shelf, I’m making it for you. Which means getting your measurements right makes a real difference in how your piece fits and feels.
What’s in the New Size Guide
The updated guide at bearandroo.com/pages/sizing-chart has a few sections, and each one serves a different purpose.
How to Measure walks you through exactly where to measure for bust, underbust, waist, hip, and inseam, with diagrams for each. If you don’t have a measuring tape handy, there’s a printable one you can use right at home.
General Size Charts show the body measurements I use as a baseline for each size, from XS through 3XL. Think of this as your starting point — but how relaxed or fitted you like your clothes matters too, so don’t be afraid to size up or down from what the chart suggests.
Style-Specific Guides exist because not everything fits the same way. The Sprint Pullover, the Motion Bra, and the Cove & Bayliner swim tops each have their own sizing quirks, so I built separate guides just for those.
The Pant Inseam Guide is for anyone ordering joggers, leggings, or pants. Since everything is made to order, you can choose your inseam length based on your actual measurement — not just “petite, regular, or tall” guesses.
The Size Calculator pulls a lot of this together. Pop in your measurements and a few details about how you like things to fit, and it’ll give you a recommendation. You’ll find this same calculator on every product page too.
The Question I Get Asked the Most
By far, the most common thing I hear is: “I’m between two sizes — what do I do?”
Here’s the honest answer: it depends on the piece, and it depends on you. Some people love a relaxed, roomy fit and will size up. Others want everything fitted and will size down. The general chart gives you a starting point, but your personal preference is just as important as the numbers.
And here’s something a lot of people don’t realize — because everything is made to order, I can mix and match sizes within one piece. If you need a large through the hip and thighs but a medium waistband, I can do that. If your top half and bottom half don’t match a standard size, that’s not a problem here — that’s actually the advantage of made-to-order.
When in Doubt, Just Ask
If you’ve gone through the guide, used the calculator, and you’re still not sure — please just message me. Shoot me your measurements through the contact page, email, Facebook, or Instagram, and I’ll personally help you figure out the right size, including any custom adjustments like mixing sizes between the top and bottom of a piece.
This is exactly why I make everything myself, one order at a time. Your body isn’t a standard size, and it doesn’t need to be for your Bear & Roo pieces to fit beautifully.
