Sustainability
A different way to think about it
We know it's not every day you spend $80 or $100 on a piece of activewear.
But with Bear & Roo, spending more now means spending less over time. Every piece is made to order, from quality fabrics chosen to last — not to be replaced next season. That's not just good for your wardrobe. It's good for the planet.
The Fabrics
I source from small, independent fabric companies, with 95% of my suppliers based in Canada. Using fabrics that are OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified — meaning it's been tested and proven free of harmful substances. I prioritize fabrics that feel exceptional on sensory-sensitive skin: TENCEL™, modal, bamboo, and recycled poly yarns for athletic wear.
For activewear, I also offer ECOVERO™ Lenzing — a more sustainable viscose alternative that performs without compromise.
I won't pretend to be entirely plastic-free. The best supportive athletic fabrics require structure, and I'd rather be honest about that than greenwash it.
The Model
Made-to-order means no mass production and no overproduction. Your piece doesn't exist until you order it — which means nothing sits in a warehouse, nothing gets discarded, and no fabric goes to waste unnecessarily.
I also do special VIP one-of-a-kind releases to use every last bit of fabric to its full potential. Every scrap matters.
The Afterlife
Bear & Roo has a buy-and-sell group on Facebook where customers can pass on pieces they've loved to someone who will love them next. Good clothes deserve a long life — not a landfill.
Care Matters Too
How you wash and care for your activewear directly affects how long it lasts — and how long it stays out of landfill. I've put together a full care guide so your pieces go the distance.
