What “Made-to-Order” Actually Looks Like Behind the Scenes
If you’re new around here, you might have noticed something a little different about how Bear & Roo works.
Most clothing brands produce hundreds — sometimes thousands — of pieces in advance and store them in warehouses until someone buys them.
Bear & Roo works the opposite way.
Every piece is made-to-order.
And that means your clothing isn’t sitting on a shelf waiting for you — it’s actually made for you after you place your order.
But what does that really look like behind the scenes?
Let me show you.
Step 1: You Choose the Details
One of the reasons women love Bear & Roo is that the clothing isn’t limited to standard store sizing.
When you order, you can choose things like:
• your rise preference
• your inseam length
• your size that actually fits your body
Because bodies aren’t cookie-cutter.
Some women need shorter inseams.
Some need longer ones.
Some want more coverage through the waist.
Made-to-order allows me to create something that actually works for your body instead of forcing your body to work for the clothing.

Step 2: Your Fabric is Cut
Once your order comes through, I start preparing your piece in my studio.
Every item is hand cut individually, not mass-cut in stacks like fast fashion factories.
That means each piece of fabric is laid out, measured, and cut with care so the fit and shape stay consistent.
It’s slower than mass production — but the quality difference shows.
Step 3: Your Piece is Sewn
This is where the real magic happens.
Your item is sewn right here in Canada — by me.
Not in a factory overseas.
Not in a warehouse assembly line.
Just one order at a time.
From leggings and joggers to tanks and tops, each seam is stitched with durability and comfort in mind so your clothing can move with you through real life.
School pickups.
Errands.
Work days.
Travel days.
Even those quiet coffee moments.

Step 4: Final Checks
Before your order leaves the studio, I check everything:
• seams
• stitching
• waistband structure
• overall quality
Because when you’re creating something made specifically for someone, it deserves a final once-over.
Why Made-to-Order Matters
Made-to-order isn’t just about customization.
It’s also about intentional clothing.
Instead of mass producing clothing that may or may not sell, pieces are only created when someone truly wants them.

This means:
• less waste
• fewer unsold garments
• more thoughtful purchasing
It’s part of what makes slow fashion different from fast fashion.
The Tradeoff (And Why It’s Worth It)
Made-to-order does mean one thing:
You might wait a little longer for your clothing to arrive.
But what you receive is something very different from typical retail clothing.
You receive something that was:
• cut for you
• sewn for you
• created intentionally for your body and lifestyle
And for many women, that difference is worth it.

Clothing Designed for Real Life
Bear & Roo was built around a simple idea:
Women deserve clothing that feels good on their bodies and works with their everyday lives.
Not clothing that needs constant adjusting.
Not clothing that only works for one activity.
Just comfortable, confidence-boosting pieces that move through the day with you.
And made-to-order is what makes that possible.
