I Wear Both. Here’s Why.
A maker’s honest take on REPREVE® and ECOVERO™ — and how to know which one is yours
If you’ve been eyeing the activewear collection and wondering which fabric to try first, you’re not alone. It’s one of the questions I get most often. And honestly? I get it. Fabric names don’t tell you much. “Recycled plastic bottles” doesn’t exactly scream buttery soft leggings.
So let me just tell you what I know — because I wear both, I sew both, and I reach for each one for very different reasons.
First, let’s clear something up
Both fabrics are soft. Zero texture, zero scratchy feeling, nothing stiff or papery. If that’s been a worry holding you back, set it down. I wouldn’t put either of these on my body — or yours — if that wasn’t true.
Both are also squat proof, opaque, and designed to stay put. No lines, no shifting, no second-guessing yourself mid-errand. For women over 40 who are done playing fabric roulette, that matters. A lot.
Now, here’s where they part ways.
REPREVE® Brushed Athletic — my go-to for moving
REPREVE is made from recycled plastic bottles. I know. It sounds like it should feel like a grocery bag. It does not. It feels like the softest, smoothest performance fabric you’ve ever pulled on — with a lightly brushed, buttery inside that feels like it was made for your body.
It has structure. Not tight, not compressive — just that supportive hold that smooths and stays through a full day or a full workout. I wear my REPREVE leggings and joggers for everything. Spin class. Errands. School pickup. Days where I need to move and I don’t want to think about what I’m wearing.
I also love REPREVE for my Sprint Pullovers. The fabric has a polished finish with a slightly warmer feel, so it layers beautifully and still looks put together.
When you care for it properly, REPREVE has a longer lifespan than most performance fabrics because of how it’s milled. That structure isn’t just comfort — it holds up.
Reach for REPREVE when: you’re working out, running around, need that supportive feel, or want a cozy-but-polished everyday look.
ECOVERO™ Athletic — my go-to for everywhere else
ECOVERO is the fabric you forget you’re wearing. Lightweight, silky, fluid. It has a soft stretch and a drape that doesn’t feel heavy or compressive — it just moves with you.
It’s thicker than you’d expect for how breathable it feels. That’s what makes it work so well beyond the gym. I wear my ECOVERO leggings to dance competitions and recitals with my daughter. Lunch dates. Anywhere I want to feel like I made an effort without actually suffering for it.
A lot of my customers wear ECOVERO to the office, the classroom, or out for the day. Women who are retired and want to feel pulled together without squeezing into something uncomfortable. Women who work on their feet and need to look professional and feel human at the same time. ECOVERO does that quietly and really well.
My Off Course Jackets in ECOVERO are something I reach for constantly. The drape on that fabric makes it look elevated in a way that’s hard to explain until you’re wearing it.
Reach for ECOVERO when: you want that elevated athleisure feel, you’re wearing it somewhere you want to look a little more put together, or you just want to forget you’re wearing pants entirely.
So which one do you try first?
Here’s my honest answer: it depends on how you live.
If most of your days involve movement — workouts, busy schedules, active kids, or you just run warm — start with REPREVE. You’ll love the feel and you’ll wear it constantly.
If you’re looking for something that crosses over into your real life — work, outings, days where you want to look like you tried — start with ECOVERO. It’ll change how you think about getting dressed.
And if you’re anything like me? You’ll end up with both. They fill completely different spots in my closet and I genuinely don’t want to choose.
Come see what’s available in both fabrics over in the activewear collection. If you’re still not sure which direction to go, DM me. I’ll point you straight to the right one.
